We were delighted to have hosted the first two days of the London Youth Fencing Championships this weekend. Fifteen St Benedict's fencers took part with ten qualifying through to the @britishfencing Youth Championships in May. Well done to the following fencers who gained medals along the way with special mentions to Captain, Oubai and teammate Viliam who narrowly missed out on Gold and Silver by only one point each! A huge congratulations to Daniel M-L in Year 9 for winning a Silver medal in the long jump at the England Athletics U15 Open National Championships last weekend. Competing as both a school and Harrow AC athlete, he achieved an incredible 5.95m jump at the Sheffield Indoor Athletics Centre, meeting the national standard. Continuing Maths Week in Junior School, today pupils from Years 3 to 6 took part in their Subject Revolution workshops. Working in teams, they cracked tricky maths puzzles while staying undetected by the invading Robotrons. With each challenge solved, they uncovered parts of a secret code the only way to take down the Robotron server and save us all. And guess what? They did it! Just in time to activate the school's protective lasers and destroy the Robotron spaceship hovering over the Junior School! Today marked the start of Maths Week at Junior School Children from Reception to Year 2 took part in maths workshops run by Subject Revolution, where they had to work in teams to solve a range of mathematical problems to help save the kingdom of Mathania. Meanwhile, children in KS2 performed their timetable songs to their classes and worked extremely hard by producing some fantastic songs to help us learn our times tables. What a weekend of sporting success for St Benedict's A huge congratulations to our first teams in Hockey, Football and Rugby Sevens for their outstanding performances. 1st VII Rugby team triumphed at the Portsmouth Grammar South Coast 7s tournament, showing incredible resilience to defeat Portsmouth Grammar School 21-17 and claim the coveted Bowl The 1st XI Hockey team secured a historic 2-0 victory against Godolphin & Latymer – their first win over this strong opposition The Football 1st XI team pulled off a thrilling 5-4 win over Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School, a remarkable turnaround after a previous 5-1 loss earlier in the season Well done to all our teams for their hard work, determination, and fantastic performances! @stbenedictssport #StBenedictsSport #TeamSpirit #Hockey #Football #Rugby #RugbySevens #HockeyVictory #SportsSuccess #SchoolSports

Our Year 9, 10, and 11 students who took part in the @UKMathsTrust Intermediate Maths Challenge on Wednesday. Over 100 of our students are testing their mathematical reasoning, precision, and fluency in this 60-minute, 25 question challenge. The UKMT Intermediate Maths Challenge is an annual event with over 700,000 participants each year and the top scorers will earn a spot in the subsequent Olympiad events.
