Introducing St Benedict's New Head Boy & Head Girl
St Benedict's welcomes a new Head Boy and Head Girl for the new academic year.
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Diego as Head Boy and Alice as Head Girl at St Benedict’s for the new academic year 2024 / 2025, along with their Deputies, Rossella, Edmund, Nancy and Rowan.
Their appointment was officially announced by Headmaster, Joe Smith, during today's Senior School assembly, where he confirmed that what really shone through during the interview process was their passion and strong desire for ‘wanting to represent you, the students’.
He continued, “I am very excited at the prospect of working with our new team of Senior Decans. I was so impressed by them in the interviews I conducted for the Head Girl and Head Boy positions, and was powerfully struck by their love for their school, but also their passion for making improvements and representing the whole student body in all its wonderful diversity."
Here, we find out a little more about Diego and Alice and their plans for representing the school over the coming year.
Speaking about his new role and journey since leaving Spain and transitioning to St Benedict’s, Diego says,
“Since moving from Spain in Year 5, St Benedict’s has provided an environment which has been fully conducive to my personal and academic growth.
It has been a pleasure for me to be able to represent the school over these years and see the school growing alongside its students. I study Biology, Psychology and Sociology at A-levels, and aim to study Psychology at University with hopes to specialise in Clinical Psychology. I’m proud to say that the school has supported me unconditionally as I grew, assimilating into England when I was younger and welcoming my various pursuits in the Senior School, from fundraising events to the life-changing Lourdes pilgrimage."
As Head Boy, I hope to accurately represent the values and wishes of the school, facilitating constructive communication between management and students, and between the school and its wider community. I also hope to encourage the view that St Benedict’s is an increasingly diverse community, and a place dedicated to the holistic growth of its students. I look forward to working with our amazing Headmaster, helping the school continue to grow, and working closely with the community!
Diego, Head boy
Alice has been an active member of the St Benedict’s community since joining the Junior School at the age of 6. Describing her time here, she says,
“Having been at St Benedict’s since the age of 6, I owe a large amount of my development and growth to this school. From learning to play hockey and various instruments to taking part in music ensembles and hobbies, I have been lucky to have been given countless opportunities to find my passions.
I feel incredibly grateful that I’ve had this start in life, and I am so excited to give back to this school by sharing my vision.
My academic pursuits have been actively encouraged here, and I am really enjoying studying English Literature, Psychology and Geography at A-Level with the aim of studying Psychology at university."
As Head Girl, I am committed to being an approachable person who actively welcomes and wants to hear the views of my peers. I am determined to champion our students’ voices, making our already thriving Benedictine community flourish further and be a happy place where everyone feels appreciated and listened to, so students can fulfil their potential.
I am so thankful to have this opportunity to work alongside the Headmaster and my fellow Decans to continue to improve our school and our wider community, and I look forward to the year ahead.Alice, Head Girl
