Admission - Senior School

Admission to Year 7 (11+)

All candidates must sit the School’s 11+ entrance examination, the majority of whom will then be invited to an assessment day. The assessment day will comprise group tasks which will assess candidates’ potential across a range of aptitudes, which we believe are important in St Benedict’s students, and which we aim to develop in their time at the school:

• Inclusion

The group tasks are an integral part of the assessment as they provide a relaxed atmosphere in which the candidate has the opportunity to express their personality and character, and to begin to get to know their potential classmates. It also enables the staff to ascertain what contribution they might make to the general life of the School. A reference is also sought from the candidate’s current school. The Headmaster will finalise the list of candidates who will be eligible for further consideration for admission.

Transfer from the Junior School to the Senior School at 11+ is subject to the principles set out above and to a pupil making satisfactory progress. It is for the School to deem whether progress is satisfactory or not. The parents of children who are unlikely to be offered a place in the Senior School will be informed in Form 1 (Year 5).

All candidates must sit an entrance examination, some of whom will then be invited to an interview. A reference will also be sought from the candidate’s current school. The Headmaster will finalise the list of candidates who will be eligible for further consideration for admission.
