Scholastica Education
St Benedict’s has always been a school at the heart of the local community in Ealing, and we are looking to develop this by offering a wide range of support for home-schooling families across West London. This hybrid set of online and in-person opportunities, under the umbrella name of Scholastica Education is currently being developed in consultation with the home-education community.
We are currently looking to develop the following options for home educators:
- Acting as an examination centre for independent candidates in the area. We can offer entry for any of the exam boards at GCSE and A level and have real expertise in supporting candidates with special education needs who have access arrangements such as extra time, rest breaks and computer use.
- Providing practical support for home schooling candidates studying sciences. We will look to offer the chance for students to take part in the key experiments for Biology, Chemistry and Physics GCSE’s and IGCSE’s in our science labs led by our science teachers and technicians.
- Giving students and their parents advice and support with university applications and broader careers applications. This was noted as an area of significant strength in our last school inspection and we are able to support with both traditional UCAS routes and also applications for foreign universities and other routes like apprenticeships.
- Providing advice and classes on revision techniques and strategies for students and parents as they approach public examinations.
- In conjunction with some Home Education advisors we will look to provide advice and support for families who are new to home education.
- Acting as a centre for students who want to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh award at either Bronze, Silver or Gold level including organising the final expedition.
- Potentially offering a range of more sociable opportunities such as sports lessons and activities clubs.
