The Senior Citizens' Christmas Party
St Benedict’s Sixth Form students hosted a festive Christmas party for local senior citizens in the last week of term.
Children from the Junior School sang carols and Father Christmas (AKA Mr Foley) put in an appearance, dispensing good cheer and mince pies. Everyone played a lively game of bingo, led by our expert caller, Mr Walton.
The Christmas party is a very popular annual event at St Benedict’s, and is organised by members of the St Vincent de Paul Society, led by Rosalind Sheehan (Upper 6th/Year 13). SVP works to serve the local community and undertakes a range of activities throughout the year, including working as MENCAP volunteers, helping at a soup kitchen and raising awareness of those in need. Junior School pupils also get involved and are known as ‘Mini Vinnies.’
