St Benedict's Connect
Launched in January 2019, St Benedict’s Connect is a private networking platform for the sole use of St Benedict’s alumni. This platform offers a full Mentoring Programme, employment and internship opportunities, university contacts and advice, and all news and information about our many Alumni reunion dinners and events.

The Richard Baker lecture series
The Richard Baker lecture series is a very special annual event in recognition of a remarkable life-long relationship with St Benedict's: Richard Baker (OP 59) has a seventy year association with the school as a pupil, outstanding teacher and dedicated volunteer.
The Richard Baker Science Lectures have been generously endowed by Dr Francis Cuss MA, FRCP (OP 72), in gratitude to Richard for his inspirational chemistry teaching, to which he attributes his passion for science, and highly successful career in medical research.
After leaving St Benedict’s, Francis qualified as a physician and worked in the NHS, and then transitioned to the pharmaceutical industry. In a career spanning over thirty years he worked in Europe and the USA for research-based companies such as Glaxo and Schering-Plough and was most recently Chief Scientific Officer and head of R&D at Bristol-Meyers Squibb until his retirement in July 2017.
Francis himself gave the inaugural lecture in December 2017, entitled “Science Education: More Important than Ever!”.
Careers Support
The St Benedict’s community provides an invaluable network for former and current pupils alike. Our alumni have fascinating and diverse careers and we are keen to harness this experience to guide and inspire current pupils.
The Development and Alumni Relations Office works closely with the Head of Careers to identify alumni, parents and friends of the school who are willing to share their experience in a particular field. Opportunities include a wide-ranging biennial Careers Fair, an Old Priorian Networking and Mentoring scheme and regular talks each term. OPs also conduct mock interviews and offer work experience placements for our pupils.
