Scholastica Education – Supporting Home Educators with Revision and Study Skills Workshops
Scholastica Education is committed to offering tailored support to home-educated students, ensuring they have access to high-quality academic preparation and guidance. As part of our expanding provision at St Benedict’s School, we are delighted to introduce a series of Revision and Study Skills Workshops, specifically designed for students preparing for GCSE and A Level exams.
Helping Students Master the Art of Effective Revision
Even the most dedicated students can struggle to revise efficiently. Many feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume of content, unsure of how best to organise their time, or uncertain which techniques will help them retain information effectively. For home-educated students, whose learning often takes place in a highly personalised setting, revision can present a particular challenge, and it is not always easy for parents to take the lead in developing these specialist skills, especially when their child is already feeling the pressure of exams.
Our three-session programme, led by experienced subject specialists and study skills mentors, will equip students with proven techniques for active revision, time management, and exam success. Each session will be practical, interactive, and tailored to the demands of public examinations, ensuring students leave with strategies they can immediately apply to their own studies.
What the Workshops Cover:
Across the three sessions, students will explore:
- Planning and Organisation – How to structure revision time effectively, create realistic study timetables, and break down subjects into manageable sections.
- Active Revision Strategies – The science of memory, practical ways to consolidate learning, and techniques such as retrieval practice, interleaving, and dual coding.
- Managing Exam Stress – How to stay calm and focused, develop resilience, and apply mindfulness techniques to maintain motivation and confidence.
Flexible Scheduling to Meet Demand
Recognising that many home-educated students have different schedules, the workshops will be offered multiple times in the lead-up to the summer exam season, depending on demand. Whether students are approaching their first set of GCSEs or aiming for top grades at A Level, these workshops will provide them with essential skills to maximise their potential.
