St Benedict's Tennis Star qualifies for Wimbledon!
Mika, in Year 8 at St Benedict's, has been given the chance to play at Wimbledon this year, having won the 14U Grass Court National Championships on 30th May!
Congratulations to Mika (Yr 8) who has won the 14U Grass court National Championships in East Gloucestershire, both in singles and doubles. As a result of this huge success she was also awarded a GBR wild card into the 14U international event at the Wimbledon Championships this year! She will therefore compete against some of the best young tennis players from all over the world and the event will run alongside the adult championships at Wimbledon - a hugely exciting prospect for her!
Mika has also been selected to represent Great Britain at the European Summer Cup, organised by Tennis Europe.
"Great result Mika, fantastic achievement to win both the singles and doubles- can't wait to watch your progress at the Wimbledon U14 championships. Great to see the St Benedict's tennis program helping to nurture such a fantastic talent!"

Mika said: "I received a wild card for invitational Championships that will take place at Wimbledon during the adult championships. To qualify for that event players had to win nationals in different countries or win the international at Roehampton that I am playing this week. Both winner and runner-up get a wild card. In the Wimbledon event that I already secured my place for there will be the best juniors 14U from around the world. Also, representing Great Britain at the Summer Cup, is a great honour."
Professional tennis player and alumnus of St Benedict's, Dom Inglot (OP 2002) offered his congratulations:
